McCain's VP Choice: Governor Sarah Palin
The recent announcement made by Senator McCain shocked just about anyone who follows Republican politics. For the last several weeks many have speculated about who McCain would chose as a running-mate. Many people, including myself, thought that it would most likely be Mitt Romney. It was thought that Mitt Romney's conservative principles and economic expertise would help to attract more conservative voters to McCain. However, McCain did not choose Mitt Romney or any of the other individuals who were on everyone's short list of possibilities. The early morning after Barack Obama gave his "historic" speech, John McCain announced Sarah Palin as his running-mate. This was a brilliant move! The timing of the announcement took the spotlight off of Barack Obama's "historic" speech, and on to McCain and his running-mate choice. Sarah Palin, a lifelong member of the NRA, a mother of five, a pro-life women, a cost cutting leader, and the Governor of the state that could help our country obtain its energy independence (Alaska) is perfect for the job. Many disappointed Hillary supporters might give McCain their vote with Governor Palin on his side. Her cost cutting attitude philosophy, along with her desire to open up drilling in Alaska could attract many conservatives. I think that many voters could believe that she has more in common with them than anyone else in the presidential race. This bold move by McCain could very well be the best political "chess" move he will ever make.

Right on! I know that the left will come up with some major below-the-belt attacks. But she is tough and can take it.
